The Muadhin of the Prophet’s Mosque Returns to His Lord: Sheikh Faisal Nouman

 Muadhin of Masjid an-Nabawi | A Legacy of the Adhan Across Generations

With hearts filled with sorrow and submission to the decree of Allah, the Ummah bids farewell to Sheikh Faisal Nouman رحمه الله, one of the devoted Muadhins of Masjid an-Nabawi, who returned to his Lord on Monday evening, 22 December 2025 (2 Rajab 1447 AH).

Sheikh Faisal Nouman رحمه الله was appointed as a Muadhin of the Prophet’s Mosque in 1422 AH (2001 CE), joining the noble ranks of those entrusted with raising the call to prayer from the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. From that day onward, his voice became part of the daily rhythm of Madinah, calling believers to prayer from the very place where revelation once descended.

A Household Honoured by the Adhan

Sheikh Faisal رحمه الله belonged to a distinguished household whose service to the Adhan in the Prophet’s Mosque spanned generations. His grandfather was among the Muadhins of Masjid an-Nabawi, and his father was appointed to this honoured role at the remarkably young age of fourteen, an early testament to devotion, discipline, and excellence. His father continued in this sacred service for many decades, calling the believers to prayer from the Prophet’s Mosque until he passed away at an age exceeding ninety years.

Through this blessed lineage, the Adhan continued to rise from the minarets of the Prophet’s Mosque, an enduring legacy that echoed across generations and settled in the hearts of the Ummah.

Twenty-Five Years of Sincere Service

For twenty-five years, from 1422 AH until 1447 AH, Sheikh Faisal Nouman رحمه الله carried this sacred trust with humility, sincerity, and steadfastness. Known for his dignified presence and quiet devotion, he served without seeking recognition, content that his voice called people to stand before Allah in prayer.

Those who listened to the Adhan from Masjid an-Nabawi over the past quarter century were, knowingly or unknowingly, touched by his service, by a voice raised not for the world, but for Allah alone.

Farewell in the City of the Prophet ﷺ

On the morning following his passing, Sheikh Faisal Nouman رحمه الله was prayed upon after the Fajr prayer in Masjid an-Nabawi on Tuesday Thereafter, he was laid to rest in Al-Baqi Cemetery, among the companions, scholars, and righteous servants of Allah.

Many prominent scholars, teachers, students of knowledge, and Imams and Muadhins of Masjid an-Nabawi were in attendance, bearing witness to a life spent in service of one of the greatest acts of worship: calling humanity to the prayer.

Condolences from the Presidency of Religious Affairs

Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, extended his sincere condolences on his own behalf and on behalf of the Imams, Mu’adhins, teachers, and all staff of the Presidency of Religious Affairs on the passing of the Mu’adhin of the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Faisal bin Abdulmalik Nu‘man رحمه الله.

Sheikh Al-Sudais prayed that Allah Almighty envelop the late Mu’adhin in His vast mercy, grant him the highest ranks in Paradise, and reward him abundantly for his many years of devoted service and for raising the call to prayer in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He also conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the family, relatives, and loved ones of the deceased, asking Allah to grant them patience, comfort, and solace during this time of loss.

A Voice That Will Not Be Forgotten

Though his voice has now fallen silent in this world, its echoes remain, woven into the memories of millions who prayed in the Prophet’s Mosque, and recorded with Allah as deeds that continue to speak on his behalf.

We ask Allah to envelop Sheikh Faisal Nouman رحمه الله in His vast mercy, to forgive his shortcomings, to accept his years of service, and to grant him a lofty station in Jannat al-Firdaws. May Allah reward his family for their patience and honour them for a legacy of devotion that spanned generations.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.
